Jingdezhen Withdrawal & Ramblings

About Jingdezhen

Jingdezhen is a city defined by porcelain. From the Imperial Kiln Museum to the Ancient Kiln Folk Customs Expo Area, the air is thick with the smell of clay and kiln fire.

During the few days in Jingdezhen, I saw plenty of blue-and-white, underglaze red, and famille rose porcelain — and even tried wheel-throwing with my own hands. Back home, there's a lingering "withdrawal reaction": whenever I see a cup or bowl, my first instinct is to check the base mark to tell whether it's from Jingdezhen.

Ramblings

After the trip ended, returning to daily routine, I keep feeling that something is missing. Probably it's that immersive sense of "as long as I focus on one thing, I can keep going at it" — which clashes so sharply with the fragmented pace of city life.

Rambling over — time to pull myself together and get back to studying and life. The next trip is already on the plan.
