Incheon Airport Non-Through-Checked Transfer Guide

Overview

A detailed walkthrough of a non-through-checked transfer at Incheon International Airport (ICN). From landing to boarding your next flight, here's exactly what to do.

Step 1: Follow the Green Signs

After getting off the aircraft, follow the green "← Terminal 1 1-50" signs.

Step 2: Take the Shuttle Train

Go down two escalators to find the Shuttle Train. Look for Baggage Claim markings on the floor. There is only one direction for the train — take it to the final stop at Terminal 1.

Step 3: Immigration & Arrival Card

Head toward Foreign Passport after going up the escalator. Fill out an Arrival Card at the designated counter:

• Address in Korea: Since this was a 7-hour transfer, I wrote "One day trip transfer" and included my next flight number.
• Phone: Used my Chinese mobile number (+86).
• Purpose of Entry: ☑️ Checked Others and wrote Transfer Flight.

Step 4: Immigration Check

Proceed to the immigration counter. Hand over your passport and arrival card. Since I was a transfer passenger, the officer also asked for my next flight itinerary (print a copy beforehand). Follow the instructions for photo and fingerprinting. A sticker will be placed in your passport allowing a one-month stay.

Step 5: Baggage Claim

Follow the baggage claim signs to find your carousel and collect your luggage.

Step 6: Exit to Departure Hall

Find the nearest Exit, then take an escalator or elevator to the 3rd Floor Departure Hall.

Step 7: Re-Check-in

Wait for your next flight's check-in counters to open. Counters H1-H11 open 3 hours before departure. Expect long queues — we queued for about 1.5 hours. Note that flights to the US generally require counter check-in (no self-service kiosks).

Step 8: Security & Boarding

Head to Departure/Exit security. Security was quick — no need to remove electronics or power banks. Proceed to your gate and wait for boarding.
